I've tried several different instrument clusters in my car, all of which
have had one fault or another, but the most persistent and irritating
problem is the current unwell rev-counter. I think the instrument itself is
OK as the needle move quite energetically when I engage the starter to
fire up, but it then returns to base and stays there. It's a standard Mk3
Si loom with a single multiplug connection to the rear of the cluster. The
speedo is mechanical. Out of sheer frustration I had my local garage spend
time with it today, to no avail. It would help to know which of the wires
in the multiplug feeds the tacho, where this feed comes from and any other
helpful suggestions would also be very welcome.
