I had not got as far as taking the wheel off so the brake pedal had not been used. The reason for my investigation was that I had had to move the vehicle from one side of the house to the other. I had expected to be able to push it easily but had found it hard to push.

With the undriven rear wheel just off the ground I could rotate it slowly by hand. Wanting to take a closer look I jacked the car higher (to get a block or axle stand underneath) but found that the wheel was now impossible to turn. As far as I know everything is in order with the suspension etc so the wheel is not jammed against a wheel arch. Any suggestions on what is wrong, and how to correct it will be very welcome.
