I agree a Club response is a good move, in addition as many individual
responses with add weight/numbers to the cause, which in itself is
beneficial.
My response will be built around the loss of jobs in the Industry and
associated suppliers, along with the fact that most kit cars do very few
miles in a year, so the effect on the environment is minimal. In attempting
to meet more stringent environment measures, the impact of the extra
modifications, machinery and parts production involved may also be more
detrimental to the environment than using the original engine.
Vehicles of Historic Interest have been excluded from the annual MOT check
due mainly to the low numbers and mileage, and in a similar way the
introduction of measures preventing kit car builders recycling original
parts from donor cars appears to achieve little, but penalises the hobby and
industry.
