Thanks - I checked again it does actually have a small red dot. I am beginning to wonder whether I've knocked something out now I think about it. After some research realised I've unbolted the earth for the rear lights from the b-pillar so goodness knows what else I've inadvertently unplugged! Will have another look in the morning.
