Thanks Jim, I was very surprised at the amount of damage, others I’ve seen seem to have come off must less damaged. I have got the car back at my home address it’s now sat on the drive looking very sad, but at least it’s under my control The insurance companies are involved now so we’ll have to see what they decide. So I’m not surprised the rear crumpled like that. But, as others have said, it is repairable. Since it was a 3rd party accident it won’t matter if the 3rd party insurance company write it off. They shouldn’t ask for the car, they will just pay out the market value and you can decide if you want to repair it or not. Even if the claim goes through your insurance first they will normally offer you the salvage for a scrap value. One thing though, if you do want to consider repairing it (or even selling it as is) then get the car back straight away, i assume it’s been recovered to a storage depot at the moment. You should be able to reclaim the cost of the recovery back to your house from the 3rd party insurance company, i have done in the past. Once the car disappears into the insurance company storage system it will be much harder to get back, and extra or water damage is likely to occur. That’s from past personal experience anyway.
