HDV cameras do not have a public input component that other applications can tap into via quicktime like regular DV cameras. I have no idea why this is. FCP / iMovie and Avid all have private methods to deal with this.

AVCHD, no idea, there are many different types of AVCHD and AVCIntra cameras, recording to different media. Some have HDV / dv digitizing options, but most record direct to digital media, so ingesting is simply copying files (as far as I know, ive had limited exposure to them)

Ive still seen the 40 frame delay with the decklink intensity. I have not had a moment to test other cards or really sit down with it to do a proper bug report. if you dont need super synced video the intensity may work. Higher end ingesting cards have options for more PRO level HD ingesting, via HD-SDI, etc. They are expensive, but seem to work (AJA Kona etc).

DVCProHD cameras on the other hand do work with QT input components. These are very nice cameras and should 'just' work with QT compatible apps.

Hi,

I want to use live HD video input in my compositions. I'm running
Leopard. I'd like to know what my options are.

From my research it appears that IIDC cameras work, but I'm not sure
about HDV cameras, and AVCHD cameras. Also there are conflicting
reports about whether the Decklink Intensity HDMI input card works or
not.

I'd appreciate any information that people can share about ways to get
live HD video input.

Thanks!
