Thanks for this helpful information.

The documentation on QTKit Capture says that "The devices supported in
Mac OS X v10.5 include: ...  HDV, with Final Cut Pro, devices (with
the appropriate codecs installed)" It's a little unclear to me what
that means, but your experience does provide a helpful data point.

I wonder if Vade had Final Cut Pro installed or not when he got
similar results as yours.
