I am also encountering the same problem with alpha channels and
displaying a PNG file with a billboard patch.
I am running OS 10.6.1 on a Mac Book with a GMA X3100.

Hello,
This may very well be an isolated issue on my macbookpro. I recently
did an upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 and have started experimenting with
QC 4.0. Seem like a great update by the way-thanks to all the
developers.
I'm experiencing a problem with transparency in QC 4.0
an example of what is going on is here.

this is a screen shot of my "new from template" / getting started
screen. As you can see, there are problems with transparency.
here is an example of a png imported and published to a sprite.

In the settings inspector you can see that the alpha channel is
read, but in the viewer the alpha is not interpreted properly. The
background stays black regardless of blending setting on the sprite.
This happens on all quartz files.
I think this is probably a problem with my install. Should I
reinstall snow leopard or do another upgrade? I upgraded to 10.6.1,
but this was happening at 10.6

any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
thanks,
