Uhm, I'm not in Lion right now (b/c I can't friggin' stand it), but I think
that you can do something to make documents "Lock" by default, or just
manually lock them up in the title bar area when you first open them, which
might be tenable for you, and it has the bonus of not being a hidden
setting thing.

I *think* you can go into Time Machine, and adjust it so that docs lock
automatically, but don't hold me to that. I remember something sort of
counter-intuitive going on with that, and groping for the setting.
