Isn't there also a command line function that will turn a qtz into a movie (not
talking about quartz crystal)? It may have this documented somewhere in Apple's 
docs.

One other way to accomplish this, is if you are/were a QuickTime pro user. I 
believe QuickTime pro had an export function that would accomplish this, but 
you have to use the old QuickTime.

Besides quartz crystal, which is really good, there's also some kind of project 
on github for a qtz offline renderer.
