That has most of the warning flags of a computer that _won't_ work well (if at all) with either Linux or Qubes:

* Nvidia
* Consumer/gaming (not business)
* Windows-or-OSX-only in the specs

When provisioning for an open source OS, avoid the above factors! Lenovo, Dell, HP, Purism, System76 do sell Linux-specced laptops; for the brands that separate consumer/gaming/business like the first three, try to stick with business models.

If Nvidia is an 'extra' in addition to AMD/Intel integrated graphics then its probably OK; just don't expect to use the Nvidia GPU. That company is secretive and has a poor relationship with open source operating systems. OTOH, AMD and Intel offer plenty of choices that are compatible because those companies are much more cooperative.

With that said, the HCL has been due for an update, so I would also search the forums for recent posts with 'HCL' in the title.
