I recommend you add "iburst" to the lines below, too. > server 0.uk.pool.ntp.org #UK Pool Entry 1 > server ntp2b.mcc.ac.uk #Manchester > server 1.uk.pool.ntp.org #UK Pool Entry 2 > server 2.uk.pool.ntp.org #UK Pool Entry 3 > [\CODE] > > No matter how long I wait, I never receive a message of the following > type in my syslog: > > [CODE] > hostname ntpd[xxxx]: synchronized to x.x.x.x, stratum 2 > [\CODE] That's because that message was considered "noisy" so it was removed. If you want to know if ntpd is sync'd, better to use something like what the ntp-wait script does, or looking at the (decoded) status bits on the first line of the output of 'ntpq -c "rv 0" hostname' Or look at the output of 'ntpq -p'. Also see the "tally cod" notes at <http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Support/TroubleshootingNTP#Section_9.4.> . > The IRC channel is dead so no help there. When were you there and how long did you stick around for? H _______________________________________________ questions mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ntp.org/listinfo/questions
