Which probably explains why using m-audio with or without Asio didn't make a
difference.
I have just downloaded Asio4all, and I'll try it with this sound max card
when I get a chance. If that doesn't work maybe I'll think of m-audio or
something. I am just not sure what I should look into.

Hi Raymond,
Asio has nothing to do with midi. Asio, like m m e and w d m, is just a
way to talk to your audio hardware, but only for audio signals, i.e. a
number of samples per second, to generate sound. Midi signals take a
totally different path in the system, and are different from audio in
nature.
Paul.

Well, although I believe it worked for general audio, every time I tried
to use it for midi playback and midi output I got nothing. I would be
stuck using some Creative drivers which I don't know what they were or
where they came from.
BTW, I don't really like Creative cards anyway.

Erps, sorry for having my entire message under everything else, still
getting used to this e-mail client.
I would still personally recommend m-audio's Delta series, even with the
accessibility issue of the new drivers. You can always use the old ones
(they
are still easy to find), and the new ones are rock-solid ,if you don't
mind not having access to a few things quite so obviously. I don't know
much about
their fw line.
Maybe even an Emu 0202 or 0404 would work for your needs, although it,
also, has an inaccessible control panel. But, for basic things, you
won't need to
change much, if anything anyway.
I wonder though, what were your previous m-audio-related issues?
