No rough spots at all. QWS sees it is just another sound mapper as general midi. It will need at least one .sf2 format sound font file. Its polyphony is 500 by default. There are lots of sound fonts to choose from, so if you don't like one, just get another. Thanks

Added it to the list. Any rough spots or other things you ran into in
setting this up would be appreciated. Is it a driver or does it require a
virtual MIDI cable?

The one I am playing with is CoolSoft.

If this is one you have already mentioned under another name, forgive
the redundancy. Thanks On 2/20/2015 4:28 PM, Nicole Massey wrote:
Okay, quick survey here. So far the options I know about for using
virtual sounds with QWS are as follows. Note that I'm including only
things that connect to QWS, not the wide range of stand-alone, Direct
X, and VST programs that connect to those devices.
Here's the ones I know about. What am I missing? (Note no DirectX
options here yet) I'll use these to build headings for a document on
using them.
Then I can take in what people know about setting them up, get the
formatting and wording consistent, and build a technical document on
using these things. (I have technical writer skills from earlier
jobs)
Hubi's Loopback Generator (MIDI, XP and earlier) VST Host (VST)
BassMIDI (Sound Font driver, multiple versions) MIDI Yoke (MIDI,
32-bit systems) Munt (MT-32 emulation driver) Loop-MIDI (MIDI, 64 bit
systems) Yamaha XG (WDM) (XG Driver, XP, maybe later operating
systems)

I know there are ones I'm missing, including something called
something like Maple Leaf.

Hi,

Yes, send me a completed document and we can make an article for the
QWS site.

With best regards,

James.

Steve, please take notes. This kind of information is useful for
QWS
users
as it doesn't have VST or any virtual MIDI cables built in, and
documenting the process is useful. I've been working, off and on,
on
a tutorial
on
setting up BassMIDI, and putting all of these into a single
document
would
be helpful for folks just getting started.

What I'm learning about how these things interact and coexist is
amazing! The reason M.Y. didn't work is because my friend chose
the
64-
bit-only VSTHost. No matter, Loop-MIDI is on its way.

Midi Yoke will work on a 64-bit system if you are using a 32-bit

64-bit hosts simply won't see the ports.

OK. Tell you the tooth, I never did try the Yoke on a 64-bit

Well, that's just not going to work. MidiYoke supports only 32

You need Loop midi:

Try that.

This question may not be appropriate for this list, but maybe
it
will.
A friend has a 37-note IRig controller which QWS sees. He's
also
now
installed the one and only MIDI-Yoke Version 1.7, and VSTHost
for
64-bit systems. He's got the audio driver set up, but when he
goes
to the Devices / MIDI dialog, output tab, he only finds the
IRig
controller, not any of the MIDI-Yoke ports. Any idea of what he
did
wrong?
