Local builds on my laptop switched to quartz yesterday, so there is hope that 
this will make it to the 3.1.2 binaries. (Good thing, I'm still getting crashes 
on plot(0) with x11() - a Floating Exception deep inside cairo-something). The 
big apple / little apple effect is still there though.
