I guess I've had the worst of it.

With my last clean install  I even killed my ability to run R from terminal

This was crazy. I had R working from the terminal. I removed it and re
installed and ended up with a version that doesnt work from terminal. Not
sure exactly what is going on, But I've been dead in the water for 2-3 days.
