The only thing I recycle faster is the Forum. Both publications make me think my dues are being wasted and should be spent instead on a web site that actually responded as it was supposed to do (I've been asking for months for them to post a story that gets some nebula votes, with no response at all -- although other stories have been posted with publication dates after my request). But the Forum is really a complete waste. They should ditch the Forum and put the savings towards improving the web site and maybe the Bulletin. The B has big market reports. These are useless. They're better online, are widely available online, and frankly I can't imagine many SFWA members really needing to know about a new webzine dedicated to cheerleader vampires or somesuch thing. The only exception here are the anthologies, which it can be hard to learn about -- but, again, that's far better online. The B should have interviews with writers and editors about writing and the field and the business. The Metzger-Resnick dialogues are great for this, but they are just those two guys. Why not talk the business with everyone? I of course don't want fan interviews -- tell us more about Ender! -- but professional interviews and discussions. cd --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "R-SPEC: The Rochester Speculative Literature Association" group.
