Good on you Neil. I knew there'd be a logical explanation.

As a young fella I played my way through the grades for a dozen or more years at the Takapuna club (wanting nothing more than to play for Auckland) and am now a committed North Harbour supporter.

But even though I now live within Northland's boundaries, I can't bring myself to barrack for the Blues. For the first few years of S12, Harbour was part of the Chiefs franchise (who thunk that combo up?) then in recent times they've been the junior partner (with Northland the very junior partner) in the Blues. With Auckland protecting their NPC players, Harbour has seen quite a bit of talent head for other areas, not always to return. So not only do I not support my area's team, I regard them as the evil empire.

As an ex-resident of Wellington (two years) and citizen of Hawke's Bay (seven years), I say go the 'Canes.

Hi Gil

I’m originally from Durban and have been in NZ for 6 years now. Although I now support the All Blacks (even over the Springboks), and Waikato in the NPC, I cannot give up supporting my ‘home’ team. I have won some money on them over the years, as they always get written off by the rugby gurus. They have twice been runner-up and have also made the top 4 a few times! …and they are coached by a Kiwi, …. ex-Waikato player Kevin Putt, which can only be good!

OK, I'm now registered . . . player name TinakoriRd. And never mind the lack of Chiefs supporters . . . how come we've got a Shark among us? :-o
