I'm new to Radiant and I've set up a site using the "styled blog"
option (very nice, this Radiant).

I'd like to change various colors and dimensions of the front page and
at the top of the public/stylesheets/admin/overrides.css file I see
that it says:

"Make your custom overrides here. This file will not be updated by
Radiant"

Is this the right way? I'm making changes to this file and not seeing
the front page change, though I can change main.css and see changes
taking place. Specifically I'm adding new text to this overrides.css
file for the "site-title" and "site-subtitle" classes but it does not
seem to affect the site.

Along the same lines I did this SELECT in the db:

'select content from page_parts where id = 7'

And I see the CSS that looks like it controls the front page, with
classes like "site-title" and "site-subtitle". What should I edit?
