The problem I have with this is offshoring. There are lots of mainframes in the US, but American companies are hiring Indians, Argentinians, Poles, Filipinos, and Chinese in those countries due to the lower costs. This leaves many competent US workers unemployed, or underemployed.

Obama said that he was against offshoring in 2008, but he hasn't lifted his pinky about it. A lot of support that he had at my workplace on the basis of this issue has evaporated.

1. Universal higher education: Re-educate individuals whose skills

citizens need to do some objectively-defined work to earn unemployment

normally would, while government helps the economically displaced
(either through more education or temporary work)
4. Increased tech, science, and advancement funding: There's nothing
wrong with a government that leads in innovation and gives fledgling
companies and citizens tools for success.
5. Companies are free to chase profit: I think a system that allows
for ample opportunity for individuals to get a cutting edge education,
and ensures that those who want to work can find work, is secure
enough to where government can free themselves from constant intrusion
in the private sector.
