Ernie:
"a decent a compassionate way to war against evil" Let's put this a little differently: a decent a compassionate way to war against Hitler a decent a compassionate way to war against organized crime a decent a compassionate way to war against vile and violent street gangs a decent a compassionate way to war against nihilists who run the movie industry a decent a compassionate way to war against homosexual activists who seek to recruit your kids a decent a compassionate way to war against male-bashing feminist zealots a decent a compassionate way to war against anti-black racists and anti-white racists a decent a compassionate way to war against anti-Semites who seek to kill Jews have you figured out a way for indecent and angry people to create a decent and compassionate society? Well, yeah, its called Christianity, or sometimes Buddhism or sometimes Judaism, and so forth. In other words, without a living faith of some kind, where are we? As I see it, your emphasis is 100% on the "decent and compassionate" and 0% on actually fighting evil. But what's the use? You have your reasons for your views and I have reasons for my views. Way it seems to me we each are following different pathways even if we have more in common than otherwise. Basically, to use "war" metaphor, I would like to follow in Patton's footsteps and you want to follow the pathway of Doctors Without Borders. If this was a war I would like to be in the middle of the fray, you most of all want to heal the wounded. To be successful in war you need both, of course. But my argument is that in any actual war the first priority must be on wining the fight. Way I see it, you have no appetite at all for any kind of political fight. You do say that you prefer to "pick your fights" but what political fights have you actually picked? None that I can think of, certainly not in the past 8 or 9 years. Hi Billy, about knowing exactly what the Good really is, and going to war against Evil in all forms so that we can have a decent and compassionate society. Where is your passion? My passion is figuring out a decent a compassionate way to war against evil. I would argue most of our problems today come from people who the fight the evil they see on the other side in ways that make our society worse. Or have you figured out a way for indecent and angry people to create a decent and compassionate society? E That, ultimately, is what RC is all about. -- -- Centroids: The Center of the Radical Centrist Community <[email protected]> Google Group: http://groups.google.com/group/RadicalCentrism Radical Centrism website and blog: http://RadicalCentrism.org --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Centroids: The Center of the Radical Centrist Community" group.
