Sure, as long as we are talking about Nimitzian war. Not Clausewitz. Or Auschwitz. Total commitment is not quite the same as total war. You worry I am not committed to victory. I worry you are not committed to doing the hard work to secure a lasting peace. Maybe we need to start by writing up a covenant of what we want the other to agree to. That sort of productive Values Statement might actually lead somewhere...
