Not sure where my last comment on this went (required moderator
approval??!) Now even the forum is out to get me !!

>From the bug link above, I see that this discussion has been had before
- and gone full circle. Seems like its very hard to please everyone
without implementing various configuration options, and there doesn't
seem to be any chance of this getting done soon. Which is very annoying,
because right now the alarm is a total liability. Yes I know that sounds
rather melodramatic, but yesterday and today it has misbehaved and I am
on the verge of returning it. I simply can't trust it - which is insane.
I love everything else about the radio but I need it to be a reliable
alarm.

Yesterday, the alarm went off. I pressed the wheel to snooze (set to 10
mins) and woke up an hour later because the snooze hadn't fired. Both my
wife and I were an hour late to work. GRRRRRRRR. Is it possible that I
accidentally turned the dial to "alarm off" whilst pressing it - yes,
maybe as that's very easy to do. But that is exactly my point: This
alarm function needs to be simple to use and difficult to screw-up.

Today, the alarm went off, I went to press snooze (carefully) and found
that the snooze-menu was not there - making it impossible to snooze. I
was forced to get up or spend a few mins programming a second alarm to
act as a manual snooze. I'm using 7.4.1 so I know that the snooze-menu
should not timeout. No idea why this happenned, but it wouldn't have
been an issue if there was no menu.

Returning to the suggestions in this chain, there is perhaps one other
way to keep as many people happy as possible. To snooze, you could press
(*and hold*) the main dial. That way you still can use the dial for
normal navigation or to invoke snooze. The reason I'm so fixated on
using the main dial to snooze is that it mirrors all alarms I can think
of. The snooze button is always the most prominent or largest and
easiest to find whilst half-asleep. Whack it and go back to sleep.
Simple.

Apologies if this seems like a rant. As I say, I absolutely love
everything else about the radio. But unless the alarm is reliable, it's
of no use to me at all. If all I needed was a music player I'd have
bought a SB3 or waited for a Touch. Please make this a priority.

Thanks,
Rob
