Thanks for all the help working out what is going on here. I also never stop the alarm, I just let it timeout - it's like a second alarm, if the radio goes off I know it's time to leave. It seems to me that this is not unreasonable behaviour, especially as you can specify a duration for the alarm when you set it. I'm surprised more people haven't come across it.
