If it is a misconception, it's based on the marketing and advertising from Logitech. I consider Radio to be (essentially) plucked from the air, it's always there, I don't need to log on to Sony.com in order for my Sony dab radio to work. I just pick up the available DAB signals. The Squeezebox packaging says "Plays your digital music and internet radio". There's no caveat, there's no "only via the squeezebox.com server'. It's telling me that I have a radio, but instead of playing FM, AM or DAB signals, it will play the signals sent over the internet, like a Radio. The tech specs say "Internet radio: Support for MP3, Ogg Vorbis, AAC and WMA formatted internet radio streams". Again, no mention of the squeezebox.com server. The back of the box has a nice picture of what looks like an iHouse (everything bar the squeezebox is Apple white :)). There's a laptop, and a wireless router. "A virtually unlimited music connection. Tune in to thousands of free internet radio stations, discover new music from services* like Deezer or listen to your personal digital music collection - all without wires" The laptop is subtitled - "My Music" - The wireless router - "Internet Music" No mention of having to log on to squeezebox.com in order to make it work. The clear implication is that if you can access streaming internet radio, you can play it on the streambox. And yet I'm sitting here with an internet radio that doesn't play radio from the internet. -- Wykey ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wykey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37428 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76875 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
