Yes, of course. Don't believe the hype. You won't expect them to
advertise the Radio as a brick that can also play internet radio under
certain circumstances. :)

I don't know what's on the box because I don't have a Radio, but on
'logitechsqueezebox.com'
(http://www.logitechsqueezebox.com/products/squeezebox-radio.html) it
says -"Always-on Internet Radio, powered by mysqueezebox.com (formerly
SqueezeNetwork), lets you tune in to Internet Radio streams even when
your computer is off"-.

To me that means:
(1) You need a computer in the first place
(2) If your computer is off, you can fall back on mysqueezebox.com
(3) All internet radio has to go through one of the above

The quote above is from the "Audio" section. MySB.com is not an audio
format, so no wonder that it doesn't appear there.

Under "System requirements" it says: -"Macintosh: Mac OS X 10.3.5 or
later, Windows®: XP/2000/NT/7, Windows Vista®, 733MHz Pentium,
Linux/BSD/Solaris/Other: Perl 5.8.3 or later"-. So again not doubt that
it requires a local computer.

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that the Radio has severe design
flaws. It is a powerful piece of hardware, but there are some parts
(mainly business or marketing decisions as far as I can see) that just
don't make sense. I am a software developer myself in the telco
business, and if one of our marketing guys came to me and said "Hey, we
have this new concept for a mobile phone - everytime somebody calls you,
it downloads a ringtone in real time from the internet" I would kick him
out the door.

I am seriously tempted to buy a Radio only to hack it and prove that it
could do entirely without MySB.com. But it doesn't surprise me a bit
that if a hardware manufacturer offers an online service, they will
make every attempt to force you to use it.
