Feels strange, if I hit pause or stop it will remain on forever, it's
only turned off if I hit the "Off" button.

I don't have a battery installed in mine, if you do it might explain
the differences. I'm not sure if installing a battery causes it to work
differently to increase the battery life.

I think there are some bugs related to when screen saver is set to
"None", you might want to try configuring a screen saver and see if it
behaves differently.
