I was having the alarm issue as well up until about two weeks ago. In addition to that my album art would freeze often and the system seemed to crash a lot. I read on a post (can't remember which one) that changing the radio station buffer was a workaround. I changed my radio station buffer from 3 seconds to ten seconds and so far everything seems to be working fine. It's only been two weeks but I'd be happy to keep people updated on how things are going and if the backup alarm starts playing again. Right now I'm using mysqueezebox.com as my server.
