The radio actually has a 'real' off unlike other SB's... the reason is simple: if you're taking it on vacation and pack it in your suitcase, do you really want it waking up and playing music in the cargo hold? (Remember the Radio can have batteries...) Or just have it running down the batteries on the trip to keep track of time? In 'real off' (hold the power button down), it is really off -- there is no power or battery usage.
