We have a wired-only router serving 16 ethernet jacks - We had it wired
when the house was built.

We also have wireless routers hooked into the wired router, via
ethernet jacks on the wired leg of the network in various parts of the
house. I wanted laptop/smartphone internet access available as a "hot
spot" for my wife's netbook, our smartphones, and our daughters and
friends devices if they are visiting, and I did not want to have to
secure my wireless network.

I simply hooked the wireless routers in to the wired network, and set
up the wireless routers with separate subnets - ie - If my wired router
has an address of 192.168.1.1, the first wireless router is set up as
192.168.2.1, and the second wireless router is set up as 192.168.3.1.
Each wireless router is connected to a wired ethernet jack via the WAN
port on the wireless router, just like it was a stand-alone router.
Each router, both wired and wireless, has DHCP set up, since all three
routers are on different subnets. Make sure that the DHCP range for the
wired router starts higher than the adresses that you are using for
additional routers.

If you are setting up fixed IP addresses for devices connected to the
wireless router, the subnet mask on all networks is 255.255.255.0. The
Gateway is the IP address of the wireless router that you are
connecting to - In the case of the first wireless router, the Gateway
is 192.168.2.1. Of course, the static IP address for the device must be
on the same subnet as the router it's being conected to, but not in the
DHCP range.

Here's the key - Not sure I understand it, but I do see it - When a
wireless device connects to a wireless router that is in turn connected
to a wired router, the device uses the Gateway of the wireless device to
get to the wired leg of the network - The wired network then assigns a
DHCP address for that wireless device on the wired router and connects
it to the internet. When I look at the device detail for the adapter in
the netbook that is connecting to the internet wirelessly in this
arrangement, the detail shows two Gateways, 192.168.1.1 and
192.168.2.1

This makes the wired portion (that is used for our desktop computers)
completely separate from our wireless network - A hacker on the
wireless segment would not be able to see the wired segment.

This arrangement also seems to work for devices on the wireless segment
accessing other devices on the wired segment - ie - Printers and the
Squeezebox Server. I have 2 classic SB3's, a SB Boom, and two Android
phones, and an old Dell Axim.

The netbook, Axim and any other laptops that I have set up on the
wireless leg of the network do not have trouble connecting to either of
two printers that are wired to the wired portion of the network via
ethernet cable. Using a printing program, the Android devices and the
Dell Axim also print wirelessly to printers on the wired leg of the
network.

The SB3's and the SB Boom also automatically make the leap from the
wireless leg to the wired leg, find the server with a fixed IP address
on the wired leg of the network and connect - I can even use
SqueezeCommander on the Android phone to control the SqueezeServer.

Enter the SB Radio -

The radio works perfectly connected to the wired leg of the LAN - While
it is connected via ethernet, it can be connected to the wireless leg of
the network successfully. The ethernet cable can then be removed, and
the radio continues to operate correctly - However, if the ethernet
cable is not connected and the radio is powered down (hard off), or the
house loses power, the Radio will not reconnect to the Squezebox Server
- It can find the wireless router and connect OK, but when you attempt
to play music from the server, it times out. I cannot get it to
reconnect to wireless without hooking the ethernet cable back up - Same
goes for moving the radio around the house - I have a wireless router on
each end of the house - When you disconnect it and take it to the other
end of the house, you cannot get it to reconnect to that router, and of
course, it has dropped of of the first router. If you have a battery
pack installed, when you unplug it, it should not loose the connection.
But even on batteries and a "soft off", it will not connect to a
different router - all is does is loose the first connection.

But there is a work-around:

You will need to have a wireless router on the wired leg of the LAN, in
Access Point mode - Some routers have a one-button option to turn the
router into an Access Point - My Belkin routers have such an option -
But even without that, you just need to give the wireless router an IP
address that is in the wired router's subnet, but not not in the DHCP
range. - If the wired router is 192.168.1.1 and the DHCP range is 100
to 200, then any IP address from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.99 would be
OK for the Access Point's address.

DHCP on the Access Point router has to be OFF.

Select channels that are as far apart as possible between the wired
router and Access Point channels - Channels 1, 6 and 11 do not overlap,
so that's a staring point.

Set up WPA or WAP2 wireless security on the wireless router, since the
wireless segment is on on the same subnet as the wired portion - Not as
extreme as a separate network like above, but it is up to the industry
security standard.

Connect the wireless Access Point to the wired ethernet router using a
LAN port on the wireless router - DO NOT hook anything up to the WAN
port.

When you attempt to connect the Radio to wireless, it will ask for your
WPA password - Use the same one as entered into the router. The Radio
will connect and then even ater a power-off, it will reconnect w/out
any trouble.

I have both secured Access Points on my wired LAN and unsecured
wireless using the different subnet ranges.

I use the secured wireless connections to connect to the SB Radio, and
for my work laptop.

I use the open wireless connection for all other SB's, the Android
phones and open internet access for guests.

Pls let me know if you need any more help on this -

if anyone know how to get the SB Radio to make the subnet leap like the
SB3 and the Boom, pls let me know !
