Yes, you need SBS to do this and it doesn't look like you can set this once and for all, I just tried it myself, once you log off your local SBS the Radio goes back to it normal behaviour and I cannot find any way to change this on the Radio itself. Personally I find this default setting reasonable, e. g. I can start the Radio late at night to set the alarm without waking my wife up. But why not just press the appropriate preset button? This starts playing the installed station for me, and I don't have to press the Power On button either.
