I don't really know exactly how the radio works but the "volume
control" in the other squeezeboxes is really just software that reduces
the bits in a 24 bit signal that goes to the DAC who turns it into
analog sound.
The analog electronics does not do anything regarding volume.

So my pure speculating is that summation point is after the usual
squeezeplay software and it's "volume controll" it migth have an
alternative volume mechanism for analog audio , I speculate ?

Again I don't know just a thought.
And if it had an adc (analog to digital converter) it would also be
able to record stuff, besides sending audio the usual way trough the
software

But it can just be a bug to, so to find out file a bug report on it and
see what the response would be.
Report bug number in the tread and other can participate.

Peculiar enough the animation that shows volume changes works.

Another peculiarity one can try is to play streamed audio to the radio
and adjust volume with the knob to some value, then adjust the volume
on an app or controller or web interface that works as it should.
But as soon as you touch the volume knob again the volume abruptly
changes to the setting the knob was set to previously and then you
change it from there ??. (This must be a bug too)
However if you wait some 10 seconds or so the volume are synced, so the
mutual exchange of "what is the volume" between server and player seems
slow. This also happens on a Touch .

Strangely it works with the ir remote !??
Btw the ir remote comes with optional battery pack.
If it works with the ir it makes me wonder to if that function is
present why not an app or web-UI so it migth not be completely futile
to files a bug report after all ?

I also note that server seems somewhat unaware of what's going on when
radio is on aux, volume knob changes do not propagate back to the
server while it's in aux mode so web UI or apps does not know the
actual setting.
When inserting an mp3 player the current playlist is stopped however
you can override the aux conection by cuing up a new playlist ? (is
this normal)

Sorry that I can't help, I'm also curious to how this is designed.
If some one really knows eligthen us ?
