My experience has been that the squeezeboxes are great for kids. My daughter has been using hers in her room since she turned 6 at the end of kindergarten. She'll turn 8 this April. She has a Boom in her room. She also has an iPod nano.
As long as they can read, they should be able to use the system. Once my middle guy starts reading, he'll be off an running with the squeezeboxes too I'm sure. The only thing that she has done that has required my intervention is when she accidentally connects it so mysqueezebox.com. Now she knows how to recover from that. We put the kids' music and audio books on our music server, so she has free access to it all throughout the house. She uses the Touch in the family room and the duet in the kitchen. For music she hears about in school or sees on TV, she uses Rhapsody. We don't have to deal with the clutter of CDs in the kids' rooms or them getting lost when being moved from room to room. -- maggior Rich --------- Setup: 2 SB3s, 4 Booms, 1 Duet, 1 Receiver, 1 Touch, iPeng on iPod Touch, SqueezeCommander on Xoom.
