Coming back to my problem again .. In short: Nothing changed. The alarm still sometimes reverts back to the fallback alarm. I even exchanged my router in the meantime, upgraded LMS several times.
It was running fine with SBS 7.6, but the problem did start with LMS 7.7. The alarm could play for 20 minutes without interruption, and then again decises to drop out and play the awful fallback sound. Music playback is still fine - it runs for hours and hours, without a single failure.
