Yes, I thought about that, at which point do I move the media server to
a Mac mini or something? I might do this anyway for other reasons.

However..., if the server was completely CPU bound for transcoding or
whatever, wouldn't i get other issues, like stuttering of music? And how
come the drift doesn't resolve itself as the song plays?

It is possible that I have not waited long enough? When a song is
playing not sync'ed, it is really noticeable and we go to rewind the
song relatively quickly as it can be really awful sounding.
