Funny.

Here the sample area from

 with styling for z12 scale, rendered in three times the normal resolution 
(though probably github will rescale it to fit into the page - open in a 
separate tab to see it as rendered):

Not bad for a style allegedly not made for this i think...

(Yes, keen observers will remark that the wetland pattern does not scale 
properly - contributions to fix this are welcome).

Anyway - this is all, of course, completely off-topic here, this issue is not 
about resampling happening on specific devices configured in a specific way, it 
is about resampling happening universally.
