@mnalis - as far as I'm aware, yes they are automatically removed. At the very
least, if it's not automatic, then it's been done by the translatewiki team.
It's not something we've ever had to handle ourselves before.
Here's an example of another PR where the translation keys were removed:

Although the individual keys and translations linger in the system (e.g.
https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Osm:Accounts.show.openid.link_text/en ) they
don't appear if I search through the translations (e.g. if I go
[here](https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special%3ATranslate&group=out-osm-0-all&language=hr&filter=&action=translate)
and type "what is" then there's no mention of the removed translation).
So (if I understand this correctly) they won't appear in the lists of strings
that need to be translated, even if the history of the key is still in the
system.
