couchdb is an impressive bit of kit! I've been using it for over a year
now and even though it's been pre-alpha for some of that time it's
worked flawlessly. It is very simple to use and there are numerous ruby
interfaces that range from thin wrappers over the REST interface
(couchrest) to an ActiveRecord like interface. 

>From what you've outlined I suspect coucdb/couchreset would be ideal.
