Open source is the _answer_ to the bus number problem.
For all the complaining, pretty much all of _why's code is out there  
on github in forks.
Nothing critical has been lost, except one (admittedly very talented)  
guy deciding that he doesn't want to work on it any more. That's  
entirely up to him, and he doesn't need any excuse to do it.
