That's true if you leave it on. I was thinking of using it as a  
buildbot - the idea would be to come up with an image (EC2 ami file)  
that automatically fetched the latest versions of the code it's meant  
to test, ran the test suite, submitted the results somewhere, and  
closed it down in an orderly fashion. That way, you probably don't  
need to run it for more than an hour a day, which would bring it down  
to $50 a year (or maybe $100 with a bigger instance).

The other use case was as an occasional dev box, and I'd be using it  
in a bursty way there too.

I could always run VMware and a mac image, I suppose (with a legal  
licence, naturally). It's a bit convoluted, but maybe unavoidable.
