Desktop apps typically offer many more affordances on each screen
than web apps do. That's because they built to suit people who are
trained to use them for hours at a time, several or many times per
week - not dilettante blowins who need to be enticed to use it for
ten minutes once, or once a month.

I think the difference is real, and though the desktop apps, like web
apps, are almost all CRUD, is justified.
