If you buy laptop with the intel graphic and wifi then none of what you
mention below is an issue. It all just works no configuration files
required.

I have noticed a dramatic improvement in Linux in the last 2 years on these
issues, and as I say with Intel stuff it is flawless, well integrated and
easy to use.

But without the right hardware Linux is hard, hardware that is not supported
by the manufacture is a problem in any OS. Fortunately nowadays that does
not need to be a problem as there is always a vendor that supports linux for
any common item you wish to use.

Of course there is always an exception somewhere, but don't be tricked into
thinking that what limux was a few years ago is what it is now, you might be
surprised.
