Mikel, We run Gentoo - because it is EngineYard's operating environment in both AppCloud and xCloud. Its quite a nuts and bolts distro, and wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you are doing (installation is tricky but EY do that for you). I was used to Fedora and Ubuntu which come with nice binary repos; generally on Gentoo you are installing from source. It actually works quite well and you can configure compile time options if required. In summary though, I probably wouldn't choose it over Ubuntu if I had to do it all myself.
