I was thinking about this late last night, so reread this thread and the
issues.
Seems I totally misread the problem, which made it seem much worse (to me)
than it was. :o

I thought the issue was not being able to use where(:name => 'blah'),
instead of where(:name => :blah).
The first one would almost definitely be an issue (although, not an
insurmountable one), but I'm not so sure about the second one.

So I'll revise my original answer accordingly.  It doesn't seem like a huge
issue.
You could probably run the rails test suite with this Gem as a dependency,
but I do have my doubts they're using the second form.
