*Woooooo! Thank God, a understanding fleshly mind!<G> A Ranger is ALERT to ethics, and polite, kind and THOUGHTFUL.. in this present world<G> However if we raise a good honest > hardworking clean and all the other great traits and don't lead him to > Christ all is in vain. He will break hell wide open. *I think we like to "play" Preacher.. There, on Sunday Pastor has a captured audience on thier best behavior and freshly showered<G> It also is a family time and your Mom or my wife has a "civilizeing effect" when we sit togather to hear the mininister "talk".. Royal Rangers just is not that "space".. *Sometimes it is! Mayby, we can "Do our best" by becomeing a "Friend /Mentor" This "Whole Boy" we seek is the Ranger emblem. I feel the decision of what a boy will do in life is his, Fundimental to this is that HE chooses wisely.. He needs information and experiance to *reflect on his options.. Somewhere in that is a *Respect for the emergeing Man. We are to be examples, but the Ranger emblem is for the boys.. (*and yes Gunter-Larrikan the Girls too!) They must come to know it is there's to own more than mine to *give.. The job of "Keeping" is to transfer that knoledge to his heart, so that the BOY comes to that understanding that he is a "marked man" or "Called out for service" That "service" can be a kind Father to his children and husband to his Wife, who goes to work and brings home the "vegimite"<G> I can't remember > a > time or event that we didn't have a council fire service of some kind. > If I have not at least done that I feel I am no different than a soccer > coach, music teacher, what ever have you. Good works is only for this > life. Eternal soul is forever. Yah, well.. I met a real *Angel.. once. I was down on my luck, un-employed and had just lost out on an interview with a great opportunity, I also had a broken leg<G> I was sitting by a lake in the Sierra Nevada, up by Lake Tahoe. Down the beach came a older man, he stoped and said.. "With a view like this it's hard to get down on yourself, isn't it?" and he walked off. *I felt a flood of peace come over me. We have been reading a book about the 5 "love languages of teens" in Sunday school.. These are things that *touch people in a significant way, unlike the "lecture mode"<G> 1.Touch 2.Words of encouragement 3.Acts of kindness 4.Gifts 5.Listeneng/acceptence The "Greatest thing we can do" is to teach the boys that others will be needing them to take the lead in these areas, and to do it out of Love for others in Christ.. > > I agree with you. The boys that I reach out to through > Rangers see me at my very best and at my very worst because Rangers puts > you in touch with a live ministry where most every facet of a boys life > you share and do with them. *Perhaps my worst moment was as a teen.. (*and I was a great kid) that I got in a on going fight with my Pentecostal Dad.. He was telling me basicly that he was afriad he was loseing me, and I was telling him I needed to be respected as an individual. My Dad got out the Bible and began to preach at me, he put the Bible in my lap and had underlined every word. Soon he got worked into an emotional state and began to speek in toungs! *What was the "real issue?" After all this time, he didn't like my choice of girlfriend. She attended our Assembly of God church and was a Missionette. She was part of my youth group, and togather we had gone to the Churches graduation banquet held for us in leu of a school dance. "Your Mother and I beleve you are too serious about one girl, end it now.." *I said.. "Gee Dad, what's the problem?" "I said to end it now.." "Well, I got these feelings.." "The Bible says to HONOR YOUR MOTHER AND FATHER" "I'm trying, but do you think you could put that Bible down and talk to me like a human being?" *Guys.. My "WHOLE MAN" needed some attention. I wasn't so sure that I needed a good old fashioned preach. My Dad felt every right to hit up the side of the head with that Thompson Chain reference Bible.. *I wanted some "reflection time" ...so I enlisted in the US Navy that afternoon. *Eat the hay and spit out the sticks, A#1 isn't fond of domination" -=A=- > > Every event, every outing.
