Last night was T328 court of Honor..
We meet at Walnut Grove elementary school in the gym and filled the basketball court with chairs and tables for awarding a summer's fill of achievement to 81 boys. 81 boys with 2 parents and a few Grandpa's and Grandma's made for a packed house, and so it was full of pride and energy. Scoutmaster laid out the awards behind the podiuem in order, listed by a 8 page printed agenda listing the duties of all presenters and the order of the event. Eagle Scout and SPL Josh Wheeler (*GMA#3911) Opened and had the Troop come to attention and the audience stand while calling the color guard of 6 scouts to post the colors. *Post! TU! "Please join me in the pledge to the flag" followed by opening Prayer by Pastor and Troop Chaplan LaBrant. SPL and his staff acted as Master of the cerimonies and introduced each presenter with a variety of styles<G> First up- Rank advancement Scout--------6 boys Tenderfoot---24boys 2nd class----8 1st class----4 Star---------3 Life---------1 Eagle-------- David Lloyd Eagle palms- 2 Bendan Brown-Josh Wheeler Next Merit badges- 3 pages! 185 merits total Each boy was called by alphabetical order to recieve 1-6 merits each earned since June 2002 Next came a short slide show of Scout Summer camp and pictures of the troop at all events,chow and "outbound" backpacks from resident "Camp Pioneer" 4500ft at Santiam pass in Oregon's Cascade range (Sisters Or area) Scoutmaster called each PATROL to come a stand as a group and recieved their camp "patch" and participation awards. 8 patrols! Last was the "Eagle" Patrol who had earned a National Honor award for unit effectiveness and additional service to the community. Patrol leader Josia Thomas (former RR Op207) gave a sharp salute and requested *He- hand the awards to his patrol. This was followed by a Slide presentation of the troop's 50 backpack trip thru Washington States "Goat Rock Wilderness" that crossed packwood glacier and walked on alpine ridgetops along the pacific crest. 25 participants then recieved their 50 mile afoot or afloat patch. 3 Scouts were awarded "Advanced Backpacking" for attaining milage in excess of 200 miles, one achieveing 310MILES! Special Awards included: Area orienteering meets- (1st place troop) Years of Service- Boards of review participants- Committe Members- High Adventure facilitation- District membership recognition- 8:15pm SPL Josh Wheeler called for pastor LaBrant to close in prayer.. followed by retireing the flag and dismissal to refreshments n the rear- *Out!
