Brother Jamie,   There is a break-in period from the old to the new program. You have to decide when you want to convert to the new program. The suggestion is to convert to a merit based advancement system. Use the same pins that are now available (Pioneer - Powderhorn, Bowie Knife, etc.; Trailblazer Strips).   How do the boys advance? Well for Pioneers the first Red Merit and either a Red or Blue Merit (two merits total) earns the boy his Powderhorn rating. Four more merits (2 Red and 2 Red or Blue) earns the Bowieknife.
