In Scouting..

I will attempt to keep my idealisum practical<G>

Recruit to 1st class is one unit where "scout skills"
are taught very much like Royal Rangers.. Demonstrations
and practical experiance on campouts ect. This is the
framework of the first year of Scouting.. *Just one year..
and then as "Boy Leaders" they then advance to teach.

>From "Star to Eagle" advancement is the duty of the boy
in merit accumulation and leadership duties- as I said.

The reason for this is that each "Merit" has a councilor
and the boy is to work with that Adult, untill the requirements
are met by mutual agreement.

Hopefully, the motivation to achieve.. bridges shyness, and
every other handicap to teach the boy how to deal with different
adults, phone tag and expectations..

All this coupled with Review boards, conferences and peer
group encouragement, is supposed to make it easy for a Scout
to walk in and apply for a real job, Organize a work task or
understand what real leadership is about.

In the new program, they earn their advancements by earning merits. It
will take a certain number of merits to earn each advancement
step.<br><br>
