The story is an urban legend, perhaps the one Adrian used as the basis of his email last week.
The analysis of the ledgend put the case quite strongly that there are virtually no deaths from firearms in Australia. At worse 19 in 4.5 million.
More guns = more deaths by guns. Less guns = less death by guns.
