I believe the media is giving us the real
story.....
But it is so mixed in with the sensationalism
of the protesters that the real story is hard to pick out. My
local TV station showed 5 minutes of footage about protests in the
US and Iraq (they emphasized a minority group) but gave a 5 second
snippet stating that the majority of people in the US and Iraq support the
removal of Saddam from power. The truth is there, it's just hard to find. It is
that kind of lopsided media coverage that made Vietnam what it was.
We forget that protest was not allowed in the
prewar Iraq. Prewar protesters are buried in mass graves ... something the media
has not been very good at reporting on ... we should focus on the human
attrocities commited not the media agenda of WMD.
I do believe they are working on an exit strategy
... they are training Iraqi troops to take over when we leave ... our
job here in the US is to pray for our troops and support them.
I do not believe the Iraqi people really know what
they want right now. The majority despised Saddam but lacked the power to do
anything about it. They help and support our troops but at the same time do
not really like the continued US presence because they see us as infidels ... we
are the "great satan" to them. Islam is a religion at war with itself and all
around them.
They are kind of like the children of Israel after
Moses lead them out of slavery. They look back, with fondness, at the
leeks and onions but do not remember the slavery they were in.
There is a spiritual battle going on in this world
... let's not get distracted with all the media hype and occuring events
... we need to keep our eyes on God and continually pray for this sick
world.

I doubt we're getting the real story from the media. From
what I hear, the majority of the Iraqi people support us. I do think
there needs to be a reasonable exit strategy.
